One day in Budapest works surprisingly well, because the city’s big sights line up along the river. The trick is doing Pest in the morning and Buda in the afternoon, so you reach Fisherman’s Bastion as the sun sets over the hills behind you and turns the Parliament gold across the water. Then you see the whole thing again, lit up, from a boat.
